A worked example
A pizzeria gets 300 online orders a month at an average of €25. That is €7,500 in revenue. The figures are an example, not a statement about any particular restaurant.
| Platform at 13% commission | Own ordering page with OwnGo | |
|---|---|---|
| Commission | €975.00 | €0.00 |
| Monthly price | – | €49.00 |
| Card fees (1.5% + €0.25) | not included | €187.50 |
| Cost per month | €975.00 | €236.50 |
The difference is €738.50 a month, or around €8,860 a year. In this example, the fixed price is already cheaper from about 19 orders a month.
How we calculate
- Commission: orders × order value × commission rate.
- OwnGo: €49 on a 12-month contract or €59 cancel monthly, plus Stripe’s fee per order (1.5% of the amount + €0.25).
- Break-even: the monthly price divided by what you save per order (commission minus card fee).
How the money flows with your own ordering system is explained in our guide to online ordering without commission.
What the calculator doesn’t show
A platform brings you guests who don’t know your restaurant yet. That is real value, and no calculator can put a number on it. Equally, it doesn’t show what you gain with your own site: your guests’ data stays with you, and your Google profile leads straight to your ordering page.
